I'm very happy using RetroX in my Xiaomi Mi TV Box and I always play listening music with Spotify.

As a suggestion: Is it possible to include a game volume control in RetroX?

You can use the standard volume control on any remote. Those keys are bypassed and sent to Android so it can control the volume.
