core does not support save states?

Postby marcecastro » Sun Dec 03, 2017 5:26 pm

Hi!

I'm new to this awesome system. But I'm having issues when trying to save states in MAME (2010). I always get this error message when pressing "start + R2":

Code: Select all

core does not support save states

Any ideas on how to fix it?

Thanks

Only MAME 2003 supports saving states.

Or if your game is supported in FBA, you can use that emulator instead (Final Burn Alpha)

Ok, thanks! Can I "downgrade" somehow to MAME 2003?

There are two ways to do it:

* For a specific game, you can select the MAME version in the game details screen
* If you want to switch all those games, go to Manage Folders -> Folders and remove the MAME folder that you added, then add it again as MAME 2003 (or FBA)

Now, MAME is very "special" about versions. Some dumps for a specific version will not run with other versions. So I would try the first method first just to check if the ROM will run with MAME 2003 or not.
