PS1 emulator having crazy lag on some games

Hi.

I've noticed that on some PS1 games like Gran Turismo 2 that I've been getting game breaking lag. I'm not sure if it's the emulator not being able to handle the polygon amount but it's happened on 3D games where there's a lot of 3d objects or enviroments. Basically I start get a few frames per second and the games become unplayable. Even if I exit the stage where the issue is happening, the lag issue then carries onto other stage.

I think I've seen a similar thing happen in Final Fantasy 9 occasionally, but only rarely, and usually after a save state. slowing down to roughly 1 FPS but the menu works fine and I can save state when I first see it.

The emulator will usually crash after this and I have to reload my save, I did lose a save once as it had the updated PNG but the save state was corrupted.

This is on a Shield TV 2017 running the latest updates.

Have not seen it happen on my phone though, a Note9 running oreo 8.1.0

Are you using the Nvidia Controller?

Some controllers send a lot of info, hogging up the input queue, those devices are gyroscope enabled controllers like the PS3 and PS4 ones.

Would that be the case?
