I'm new to thus forum but I got this PlayStation 1 for parts but I want to get it working. I found it had two mod chips installed. One was a pic micro controller making the console region free but the other is a mystery and was connected to the RGB chip and sourounding points on the board. I don't know if that's the problem but it could be. The PlayStation powers on with the green light and the laser and motor will move but the screen is black. I don't mean there is no signal, I mean actually black with no sound. I removed both mods and set everything back to how it was factory and checked/ re-soldered the video output conection and nothing has changed. Any ideas and experience would be very appreciated.

im not sure if anyone here would be able to help you were a small comunity and i dont think we have many hardware modding guys best i could advise is to try out a ps1 oriented forum or a forum dedicated to console modding

but for a start id recomend getting rid of everything you dont need so take out the mod chip and take out the weird rgb board and see what happens
