[RELEASED] Graphical Keyboard Mapper

Postby fcatrin » Fri Mar 22, 2019 5:29 pm

Computer systems are the most hard to make them being usable in TV devices unless you have a physical keyboard. Since the beginning, RetroX has tried to make computer games behave like console games providing a method for the user to map keys to buttons using a text file (*). Although the ability exists it can be too cumbersome to quickly just try one game and jump to another one.

A new feature will enable users to graphically map keys to their controllers, and that will be integrated into all computer system emulators: Atari XL/XE, Commodore Amiga, MS-DOS. Other emulators like C64 are waiting (**) for this feature before release. Other systems will be easily added once this feature is available for them: ZX Spectrum and Amstrad CPC are in the queue.

This keyboard mapper also will act as a soft keyboard if the user needs to type a name or sometimes a password for their games.

Looking forward to this. The 8 bit emulators on Android are hit and miss in my opinion. I can't even figure a way to get amstrad games to load in emulators without typing in run commands.
