Psx: no music if game in .iso format

Postby Ratbag » Mon Dec 17, 2018 2:22 pm

Most of my psx games have .cue files, but some don't. The ones that don't, no music plays. These are . ISO files. The music is in there given the file size of >500mb. Can the emulator play music from iso files?

I think you are confused. Let me break it down a little.

When PSx games were released the cd contains data track and music track, they are saved as cue and bin. Later on, developers compressed the music so you don't have this format anymore.

Iso is either music or data only you can't mix.

Games that has no music, this is because cue and bin can't be mounted as cd in the emulator. When you open the cue it will only read the bin data track.

You will need a pc to emulate the cdrom and mount the cue as a cdrom. When you launch the game, it will think its the original disc. You can then get music and game.

Not sure if it make sense.

So can I get music out of the iso? Most games I have are cue/bins, and I get music. But no music from Isos. That's all I would like to know.

Only CUE/BIN files support CD-Audio
ISO is for data only, you will not have music from those files
