Mame controls for SmashTV

Anyone else have control issues on SmashTV? I find that the directions you shoot buttons are not mapped in a logical way. Left is right and down is up. Anyway to alter individual games controller mappings in retroX?

There is if you are using mame 2014. At least on my shield, left trigger brings up a menu and I can alter controls.

L2 + R2 now brings up the menu to modify the input on all MAME versions
